Discussion

I corrected the name of the Exarch (who is reported to have broken the truce etc) from Gallicinus to Callinicus. To anyone even faintly familiar with Greek, it is obvious that these two are not different versions renditions of the same name. All wikipedia references to the person serving as Exarch of Ravenna for the given date, report the name as Callinicus. (See

Callinicus (Exarch of Ravenna)
). I am aware that at present
Gallicinus redirects to Callinicus
, however this is the only page wiki-linking to Gallicinus so I tend to dismiss it as error. I am thus proceeding to propose
Gallicinus
for deletion.

I think this is all fixed now. Srnec 05:36, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First sentence

The first sentence is an incredibly convoluted mess. If I could figure out what it was trying to say I'd clean it up, but I have no idea. Honestly, what does "he was raised on the shield by the warriors in Milan in May 591" mean? He was about a year old then. --Mûĸĸâĸûĸâĸû (blah?) 22:17, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

590-616 are the years of his reign, not of his life. As for the quote, it simply means that he was made king at an assembly of the army in May 591 (but some sources say 590). As for the shields, I believe it's a mention of a Lombard custom.Aldux (talk) 22:33, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
