James II

Why does the infobox state that he was related to King James II? If descended from his legitimate daughters - Mary II or Anne - he would have been Royalty, but neither had any living descendants. My understanding is that the Jacobite line from his second marriage (Bonnie Prince Charlie and his brother who was a Cardinal) died out in the early 1800s. Or is somebody having a laugh?Paulturtle (talk) 17:36, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, this was added anonymously in Jan 2017 as a "very interesting historical fact". Looks like rubbish - feel free to restore with a proper cite and explanation if true.Paulturtle (talk) 17:40, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Being a bear of very little brain, it's just occurred to me that James II had various illegitimate children ("his mistresses were so ugly that it was said that they were given to him as a penance by his confessor" as somebody said). But we still need a cite and an explanation.Paulturtle (talk) 20:41, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
