Basically, I would agree with your proposal, but there would be some problems with disambiguation as many of the Georgian prelates and monarchs share their names. For example, there was a king named

When I posted the request I made a slight typing error, please find it corrected. The only individual with an issue is
David V of Georgia. My view was that, in that case, leaving the prefix was a neutral way of dealing with disambiguation. In the case of everyone else, they do not appear to share their name with another person, royal or otherwise.--Labattblueboy (talk) 20:21, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply
