Possibly rename to Wakamatsu?

In Japan it's standard to refer to elders by their elder name first, with "(former Asanowaka)" after it. I don't know what the standard is for sumo wrestler articles on Wikipedia, but maybe we should be renaming our articles too, to reflect their new "primary" name? --95.97.234.31 (talk) 12:38, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The standard is for them to be named by their shikona, as they are usually primarily known for their career in the ring rather than post-retirement activities. Whatever the custom is for how they are addressed, per
WP:COMMONAME we should reflect what the most common name overall is in reliable sources.-- P-K3 (talk) 13:30, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply
