Double Agent

shouldn't it state that he was a double agent? 69.155.134.121 20:45, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. It does now. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 21:25, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The claim that Ashraf Marwan was a double agent is highly contested. See the film "The Spy Who Fell to Earth" on Netflix. The author who outed Marwan in the first place has his doubts. This article should reflect the controversy.Mideastprofessor (talk) 17:38, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mossad agent first and foremost!

The article has it all wrong. The first sentence states that he worked for Egyptian intelligence. As others have pointed out, this is highly contested and seems more like a retroactive story invented by the Egyptians to salvage their honor. The undisputed fact is that he was working for Mossad and passed Israel invaluable information, including most famously an early and very accurate warning about the surprise Oct. 1973 war. This was first divulged by Eli Zeira (Israeli Army Intelligence Chief in the Oct. war) in the late 90s and has since been confirmed many times over. So if at all, the opening sentence should state that he worked for Mossad, and that the Egyptian intelligence claims he worked for them as well - although as pointed out towards the end of the article, in light of the information he passed on to Israel, this seems very unlikely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.137.73.223 (talk) 15:14, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sons

Allegations about his sons should not be the thrust of this article. Also, neutral POV should be followed. Therefore, I deleted the paragraphs about the sons. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwinog2777 (talkcontribs) 02:05, 2 July 2007

death

Should the date of the of his death be listed in the infobox beneath his date of birth? I couldn't figure out how to add it. --Beeurd (talk) 19:07, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
