Cleared the citation needed flag as I think the recent additions provide sufficient academic support, as far as being a distinct "place" from Elysium thats certainly true, it could be argued that its part of Hades however at least in Homers time. In some ways its really a small detached bit of some other more pleasant kind of afterlife that got incorporated into early greek thought because it was already traditional, at least thats my reading of the referenced material.--Firepacket (talk) 06:09, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Famous Inmates?

What about the Danaids who were eternally punished with the leaky jars for killing their husbands? TheTrojanHought 16:32, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Christian-centric

It's an atrocious neglect of the self-sufficiency of other traditions to liken them to something else for 'ease' of understanding. Not only does this not do justice to the tradition being described, it minimizes complex and important differences between beliefs in a dangerous way. Exploring how Christianity might in some ways be indebted to the ancient Greek religion is very different than simply stating that part of Hades is "like" the Christian concept of hell. In Greek

I feel for you Akasha but you seem to be speaking from some personal hurt. Calm down a notch. How do you say Asphodel in Greek (Attic)? Perhaps Άσφοδέλ? Or maybe Ασφόοντελ? I don't know. Can someone tell me? -Panther (talk) 22:31, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edith Hamilton

The Later Depictions section says that Edith Hamilton suggested something in 1999, presumably because they are quoting that edition of her book. Since Edith Hamilton died thirty years before 1999, I believe that sentence should be updated. 2604:2D80:A302:FB00:7658:9748:C366:C5D (talk) 05:01, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
