I'm glad to see my edits inspired someone else to add more information!

My own recollection is that the time between the renaming is "Playworld" and its final demise wasn't much more than a year, but the newly linked article claims it had that name from 1979 to 1987. I need to chase down the Hudson Historical Society to get some reliable information on this.

The zoo had a Renaissance sculpture called "The Fountain of Achilles" which I was fond of; I brushed the leaves off it whenever I visited, because nobody else was bothering to. I wonder what became of it. GMcGath 21:48, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm trying to remember the name of the gorilla that was there. He (I think it was a he) got a lot of publicity around the time it closed. - DavidWBrooks 21:44, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New research

Today I made a trip to the Hudson library and came back with much information, reflected in my latest edits.

The gorilla was named "Colossus." GMcGath 21:13, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Colossus - of course! How original. Nice additions. - DavidWBrooks 21:46, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
