Standings by rank

I added the 2008 results in the

Final Big 12 Standings by rank section
using the official Big 12 tie-breaker rules and changed the average finishes to the true average finish instead of ranking the average finishes to try and assign them a 1 through 12 ranking.

I also changed the Division finishes to reflect the official Big 12 division rankings. The Big 12 does NOT use tie-breakers to determine final rankings. It only uses tie-breakers to determine the representatives in the Championship Game. I only used the tie-breaker rules for the Final Big 12 Standings by rank section because the Big 12 doesn't release a final all conference 12 team ranking, but instead releases final divisional rankings, so that section is completely derived and using the official rules is the only fair and objective way to determine derived ranking. I also changed the average conference rankings to reflect their true averages instead of trying to assign them a 1 through 6 value. This wouldn't even work for the North Division where 2 sets of teams have identical true average finishes and thus would be tied with either system in their average finishes.

  • I am confused by your methodology. How did you rank the teams 1-12? And was it before or after the championship game? -Kgwo1972 (talk) 12:33, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Team VS Team Records

These records are mostly wrong. I understand that all you need is a source to put something on wikipedia, but shouldn't it at least be a somewhat reliable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fthis (talkcontribs) 00:06, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It just needs to be updated if I have time later Ill take care of it.--Dcheagletalkcontribs 00:44, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not buying it. When was Oklahoma 76-17 against Oklahoma State? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fthis (talkcontribs) 20:11, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said it needs to be updated.--Dcheagletalkcontribs 20:16, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, well, it's just "updated" suggests it was right once, as it obvious was not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fthis (talkcontribs) 21:10, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What in the heck are you talking about the all time record or just the record since the Big 12 was formed cause your not making a lot of sense here.--Dcheagletalkcontribs 23:05, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The records aren't correct, either all time or from when the Big 12 were formed and it's not because they were aren't updated, it's because they are incorrect. Clearly the source is unreliable, which takes me back to the original question. Fthis (talk) 13:46, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is it that you think is incorrect.--Dcheagletalkcontribs 20:56, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Several are wrong. I could update them with correct record, if I knew the format you wanted (include A&M/Missouri). One example is Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State. The page say Oklahoma is 76-17 against Oklahoma State at the end of the 2011 season. They are actually 82-17-7, with Oklahoma's win last year it's not 83-17-7. That's way off. It was never 76-17, unless you look at Oklahoma State's side would count a forfeit. If you do that, 76-17 would have been back after the 2005 season. Another would be Baylor against Texas. It says 24-71, it was 24-73-4 after last season. Oklahoma/Kansas says 69-12 when it's actually 69-27-6 (as of last year). Fthis (talk) 22:22, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Im updating the table however I'm going to limit it to just the years the teams played in the big 12 plus re add A&M/Missouri/Colorado/Nebraska.--Dcheagletalkcontribs 00:46, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

lacking a conference football champions article

FYI, this conference does not have a List of Big 12 Conference football champions article, as seen for many other FBS conferences in Category:Lists of college football conference champions. It would be much appreciated if anyone would like to take up the project and create this article. Cheers, UW Dawgs (talk) 15:08, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant information with Big 12 page

There is a lot of information on this page which is redundant from the main Big 12 page. Perhaps this page should just reference that page for such information:
1) Member table: Nickname, Mascot, Colors, Location, Affiliation, Enrollment
2) Former member table: Nickname, Mascot, Location, Affiliation, Current conference
3) Realignment section TDinKS (talk) 16:26, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
