• "a 4-seam" literally no idea what that means. And should it be four-seam?
• "Born in 1980, Medders" you already said in the opening sentence he was born in 1980.
• " to draft him" is there a link?
• "minor leagues" likewise.
• "becoming a free agent" perhaps "once again.."

• "2002 was the... " avoid starting sentences with a numeral.
• labrum - link.
• "call up a fresh arm to help a tired bullpen" hey, I'm certainly no expert but this reads rather whimsical and not particularly encyclopedic in tone.
