In one of the, I believe series 3, episodes of Bread, Grandads name is revealed as William Thomas Duvall. This would make him Nellies father Kelan 15:21, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, in series 1, when Freddies brother Cyril dies, it is mentioned by Joey that Grandad was fond of him "even though he doesn't usually get on with Dads side of the family" Kelan 11:50, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the concept that they both got married in Scotland, but surely, only the second of them to get hitched would have "got married in Scotland just like the other." The first would have just simply "got married in Scotland." MrZoolook (talk) 13:57, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed this reference - the only link between the two shows is the writer. True, Nellie and Derek's stroyline bears some similarities to Ria and Leonard's in "Butterflies", but there is no crossover in terms of characters or chronology. I recall at the time that there was talk that Paul McCartney liked the show so much he was going to do a cameo.

Did this happen? If so it should be added to the article.

In the plot section it says in relation to the character of Joey that when Peter Howitt "decided to leave Bread to concentrate on directing and other acting opportunities, his replacement was not as popular with viewers". This is a pretty bold statement to include without any references to back it up. Equally in the section it says "In 1989, at the height of Bread's success, the departure of two of the series leading actors, Peter Howitt as Joey, and Gilly Coman as Aveline, led to the characters being re-cast. The replacement actors attracted criticism for not playing the parts as well as their predecessors, and this damaged the programme's ratings". A citation request has at least been put here, but until such times as someone can add a source I think the statements regarding popularity of performances should be removed, not least as they are rather disrespectful to the actors who played the recast parts. Indeed the two comments make the article seem like it is pushing an agenda - which I am sure is nobody's intention. Dunarc (talk) 18:41, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
