My opinion, it is either "exploitation horror" or "superhero slasher" film. Firstly, this movie explicitly tries to exploit a superhero genre, unashamedly borrowing Superman's origin story. I agree, "superhero" should not be used as any kind of descriptor for this film --- including as a genre label.

This feels heavily inspired/influenced by the Plutonian in Irredeemable, a Superman analogue (or, in-universe, inspiration for). It's a bit more obscure (possibly) than the Supreme Power some reviewers have referenced, but it should certainly be mentioned in some way. It's as close to an evil Superman as you can get - arrives as an infant in an alien ship, found and raised by a farm couple, strength, speed, flight, heat vision, and invulnerability except for material from his world. I only know the Plutonian from the wiki article but the Plutonian sounds a bit different - he starts as a device/probe created by aliens to study the Earth which transforms into a human, he's raised in a series of foster homes, his powers are psionic, etc. There are some similarities, but that could describe any powerful being terrorizing the Earth.
