The 1826 date is uncertain - different references list virtually every year between 1824 (when John Busby arrived in the Colony) and 1827 (when construction started). Based on various comments in the references, the 1826 date seems most likely. Corrections welcome. Google (and Sydney Water) have links to Sydney Water documents regarding Busby's Bore.
