I feel that this entry is notable because the Butt-Numb-A-Thon was the first public screening anywhere for The Passion Of The Christ.

This is an event that people are invited to. How is that public?

BNAT entries are open to the public although admittedly the event is "velvet rope". However, Harry makes a point of rotating in a number of attendees who have never been to BNAT. Johnny Rollerfeet 21:45, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of Movies

The list of movies provides information to the reader regarding the history of the event. Since almost all of the movies referenced are notable (especially those that have not been released before) it makes perfect sense to have them in a list. See

WP:INFO and it simply does not apply here. Putting each notable movie into prose would needlessly extend the article. --Nick Catalano  contrib talk 08:02, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply

OK, but really, so what if they showed Rocky IV at the 2005 Butt-Numb-A-Thon, or Pickup on South Street at its 2007 incarnation, or part of Teen Wolf as a joke in 2006? Yeah, we're here to "provide information to readers", but "merely being true, or even verifiable, does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia". An endless string of movie programmes does nothing to improve the encyclopedia. First, the calibre or encyclopedic value of those films is in no way contingent on the fact that they were screened at the Butt-Numb-A-Thon. Second, we have a perfectly respectable "films that have been shown include... guests have included..." section. Finally, for real aficionados of the Butt-Numb-A-Thon, there are always links like this that give the lineup. However, the exhaustive list is not encyclopedic but trivial, and should be excised. I agree, the article looks much better without the list. --

I have added an additional paragraph that is intended to clarify that the heart and soul of BNAT is not the special screenings and celebrity appearances. While many of those have been fun highlights, the exploration of all eras of film and the at-times-grueling nature of the 24 hour experience are pivotal to describing the event. I have made a separate main article titled List of films shown at Butt-Numb-A-Thon and included a link in a new "Films" section on this article. I believe this is an acceptable compromise to the issues listed above. Bobomejor (talk) 07:32, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So what kind of citation do you provide if you are an actual witness/participant? I was personally shocked repeatedly by the electric flyswatter at BNAT 1 because I kept dozing off and was sitting directly in front of the host, but there is no photo of that, nor was it ever published anywhere. It hardly counts as "news". We DO have a photo of the host holding an electric flyswatter in front of the theater beforehand. Does that count? 96.47.146.114 (talk) 05:37, 18 January 2013 (UTC)Ed Kelly[reply]
