The Article doesn't explain the intention and reasoning behind the Courts not being able to give Advisory opinions.--Occono (talk) 20:58, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have not yet gotten a copy of this book, but it appears to be a good source on the development of the "no advisory opinions" doctrine from 1793, and some of the controversies over extra-judicial roles of judges in the early U.S.:

I'm not 100% sure how to organize articles in this area, though. Some of that material should go here. Some of it should go in advisory opinion perhaps, although perhaps this article can serve as the specific article on something like, "Advisory opinions in the United States".
