Typo?

"In November 2006, an Agreement-in-Principle to Highlight Chinese Canadians' Contribution to Building Canada was announced. Former Prime Minister Paul Martin also gave a personal apology for this Act." When did this even happen actually? Last year? --User:Fitzwilliam 04:30, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Harper gave a speech apologizing for the Act yesterday, perhaps it was contained in the speech? Kilter 17:09, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More Background

What were the reasons behind passage of this Act? Racism, of course, but what else?

Rename

This article needs to be renamed to exclude the word "The". Deet 02:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Now that someone hurriedly changed the names, the redirects also need to be changed. Also we still have
    Chinese Immigration Act of 1885.--JimWae 03:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply

Anti-Chinese legislation in Canada

Propose merging the article noted in the subtitle with this one, for these reasons:

  1. Skookum's comments in Talk:Anti-Chinese legislation in Canada are valid in my opinion.
  2. It's not like there is a lot of different types of legislation listed in the Anti article. It is limited to the immigration legislation, which is discussed in more detail (including the controversy) here.

Alternate proposal: merge to History of Chinese immigration to Canada. --Usgnus 06:13, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense to me. So, how do we now go about doing that? Do we just cut and paste the info and then turn the old page into a redirect? Deet 23:48, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, but personally, I would change the merge tags and wait a week first. --Usgnus 23:57, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Special Circumstances?

What are these? Could someone clarify and add to the article? 199.185.84.10 16:02, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
