An anon added an immense amount of info to this article (tracerouted through a Romanian router, so possibly a translation?)

So I'm giving it a bunch of copy-edits. But English sources are hard to find, so I'm archiving some of the removed statements here that either need a citation or some context around it.

He was imprisoned by the Austrian authorities because of his political activities, and composed his major works while in confinement.
He studied in the Philosophical Faculties of the Cernauti and Vienna Universities.
Despite his early affirmation, with numerous songs taken by the ambulant liric-bands at the end of 19th century, the major weight in the catalog of his creation is represented by the chamber instrumental music, unfortunately lost in an unjust anonimate.
(comparisons were even made with Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies). A source to this claim may also cite the Strauss comparisons
The characters have the ability to let music develop freely, in order to express what is essential in the work: the brightness and ardour of their feelings. Gołęmbiowski = Golembiovski

I've change "Gołęmbiowski" to "Golembiovski" since the first form is made-up according to the modern rules of the Polish language. The sources only speak of "Golumbiovski". Moreover, never to they speak of "Cyprian", only of Ciprian - this is simply overkill on part of the smart-ass who added the supposedly original Polish name... 79.112.18.30 (talk) 19:26, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Original name?

Currently the article says:

born Ciprian Gołęmbiowski

but

Born Ciprian Gołumbiowski

in the infobox The Romanian Wikipedia has:

născut Ciprian Golembiowskih;

Shouldn't we use the original spelling? --Error (talk) 23:35, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of death

According to this - admittedly unreliable - source, which I can moreover only read through Google Translate, Porumbescu died of tuberculosis contracted in Austro-Hungarian detention: http://ask.famouswhy.ro/Stie-cineva-de-ce-a-murit-Ciprian-Porumbescu_q2548.html. Could anyone, possibly someone proficient in Romanian, find out whether this is true?
