This page should not be deleted. While not widely known outside of museum and aviation circles, Cole Palen was among the first to work to preserve aviation history by actually flying his planes every weekend, bringing the world of World War One and barnstorming era aviation to the general public.

His aerodrome is the subject of four books:

Cole Palen's Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome by Gordon Bainbridge, Skies Over Rhinebeck by Richard King, Wind in the Wires by Mike Vines, Return to Rhinebeck by Mike Vines.

The worldwide respect and admiration for Cole Palen in aviation circles earns him the right to be on wikipedia.

Specifically:

"Painters, sculptors, architects, engineers, and other professionals whose work is widely recognized (for better or worse) and who are likely to become a part of the enduring historical record of that field". Cole Palen brought aviation history to an entirely new level.
