Name change?

Time to change the page name to Dominick Dijakovic? I would say so. It’s certainly the name he’s most known by at this point. Anyone opposed? Make your case. 2604:2000:718E:7200:69A2:257E:C33B:F512 (talk) 02:48, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to agree with that. He's certainly better known known by that name now, and more widely known than at any previous point in his career. UniNoUta (talk) 22:17, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree the current ring name is the
WP:COMMONNAME of the subject. StaticVapor message me! 12:00, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply

AGREE. Or however we vote on this stuff. 148.4.201.116 (talk) 17:14, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, done. But I spelled it correctly (It's Dominik, not Dominick) UniNoUta (talk) 16:53, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Move to T-Bar/Dominik Dijakovic

He is called T-Bar,but he could appear on NXT as Dominik Dijakovic,but due to the tapings of Raw and NXT he can't appear on both Shows due to travel problems MkIc (talk) 18:18, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

no. T-bar it's not the common name. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:46, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think it may be time to revisit moving the page to T-Bar. This has been his ring name for over a year now. -- Mearnhardtfan (talk) 20:22, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dominik Dijakovic → T-Bar (wrestler) – Has had more exposure under the ring name T-BAR being on the main roster, plus he hasn't used the Dijakovic ring name in over a year. ♡RAFAEL♡(talk) 07:38, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply

It hurts too much, but I have to Support (I was hoping a temporary name, like Yim and Mercedes) --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 10:11, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yup lol. Heres hoping a return to Chris Dijak or Dijakovic at some point. ♡RAFAEL♡(talk) 06:43, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Name Change to Dijak?

Once again, is it time we change the name, this time back from T-Bar? While it hasn't been long, it looks like he's dropped that moniker for good, and he has always been more well-known in the wrestling community as Dijak or Dominick Dijakovic. – Most notable topic for "Dijak", the others getting single-digit daily pageviews. 162 etc. (talk) 16:48, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak oppose, 1, be careful with the primaty topic. Even if people like Naomi or Asuka get more views, it's weird for people not looking for the wrestler to find a wrestler as the primaty topic. 2, what if Dijak is released or changes his ringname? He has worked as Dijak, Donovan Dijak, Dominik Dijakovic and T-Bar, 4 names in the las 8 years, it's not like he has a regular ringname. Changing the article Dijak to Dijak (surname) and just years later, change back because the wrestler uses a new name... --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 08:16, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    1. Unlike "Naomi" or "Asuka", there's no real risk of confusion here. Are people really expecting Franjo Dijak or Vlado Dijak when searching "Dijak"?
    2. Wrestlers can change ring names. We don't have a
    WP:NAMECHANGES. 162 etc. (talk) 15:07, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply
    ]
I'm familiar with WP:NAMECHANGES. I'm also familiar with
WP:COMMONNAME, stating that we use the name most commonly used for a person, not just the one that uses today. Wrestlers change the name frecuently, but we can't just change the name of articles based on the name used at the time, just to change it a few months/years after. This article had several moves: Donovan Dijak to Dominik Dijakovic in 2019 because commoname and namechanges. Two years later, in 2021, was moved to T-Bar (also some variations of the name). 2023, moved to Dijak (wrestler). All moves stating that namechanges and every new name is the commonname. So, one year later, Dijak uses a new name. People ask for a new move. What's the deal with Dijak? Change back to Dijak (surname) just because, during a few years, a pro wrestler used the name Dijak? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 15:47, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply

> "we can't just change the name of articles based on the name used at the time, just to change it a few months/years after."
Yes we can. That's exactly what
WP:NAMECHANGES says we should do. 162 etc. (talk) 01:41, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply
]
No. COMMONNAME says "it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used". NAMECHANGES says "Sometimes the subject of an article will undergo a change of name." Change sometimes for quite often. The change is not given by WP:COMMONNAME, but
WP:RECENTISM. The point of COMMONNAME is to find a common name for every wikipedia reader, pro wrestling fans and non pro wrestling fans, not going with every new name a wrestler uses. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 10:24, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply
]
Wikipedia reflects what the reliable sources use. If reliable sources start using a different name, the article title should change to match. How many times this happens isn't defined ("sometimes") because we don't know how often that may happen - see again
WP:CRYSTAL
.
If we're in agreement that the wrestler is the primary topic ahead of the other two individuals, a primary redirect can stay even if a change of the article's title happens down the road. For example, if he goes back to T-Bar, then
T-Bar (wrestler), with a hatnote to Dijak (surname). 162 etc. (talk) 14:59, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply
]
It matters, since changing a name based on what's using at the time, ignoring previous years of work, it's WP:RECENTISM. It's not just the name using, it's about if it's the Commonname. As I said, I don't agree to change the article Dijak just because a wrestler used for a few years. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 16:54, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article is already named Dijak - albeit with a disambiguation tag. Are you arguing that a different, non-current ring name is the COMMONNAME? 162 etc. (talk) 18:35, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support so far. As someone who frequently edits and creates these kinds of name pages I can say that realistically, hardly anyone is going to be looking for the surname. 162 etc.'s argument is a bit more convincing to me. AllTheUsernamesAreInUse (talk) 22:21, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom.  — Amakuru (talk) 17:52, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
