Merge

I agree with the proposed merger of

Display behavior. The use in zoology is not particularly distinct from the other fields of biology or even sociology. After merging, rename to display (biology) or something like that. Tijfo098 (talk) 23:30, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply

Rework, Improvement

Given the state of this article now, I shan't look how it was before the merger. Clearly it's a mess, critically lacking in citations, and failing to cover the quite extensive ground it ought to be talking about. Most of it is about sexual signalling; the brief mention of human display is hopelessly inadequate; and all other displays are missing altogether.

It ought, perhaps, to have sections for:

Signalling theory (main article Signalling theory); that's all about the evolutionary payoffs of (dis)honest signalling.

Then there are 3 items, which perhaps could be grouped as 'Purposes' of signalling:

Sexual (main article Sexual selection); perhaps the human aspect is mostly a subsection of that.
Threat (bluffing) (main article Deimatic behaviour); that could include something on humans, too.
Warning (truthful) (main article Aposematism).

Anything else we should cover? And anyone feel like helping? It would be nice to take this all the way to GA. Chiswick Chap (talk) 16:06, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
