Lego Racers Challenge

Seems odd that there's even stuff on this page mentioning it, but yeah, Lego Racers Challenge (NetDevil's flash game based on Drome Racers Challenge) flopped pretty hard... Can't add a source for that stuff Tobi just nuked because there's hardly anything on the internet remaining of the game, not even mentions on fan forums. Not even any screenshots survive besides the low quality one in this article: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/107643/QA_NetDevil_To_Launch_New_Web_Division_With_Lego_Racers.php But since this info can't be on the main page without a source, apparently, for which there is no "official" one by Wikipedia's standards... It was teased on the Lego Message Boards (where fans of the original Drome Racers Challenge still were active), it was beta tested via My Lego Network, then "launched" even though the final version had no discernible differences from the beta. Reaction from the community was mixed, it didn't live up to the original, and it just fell off of everybody's radar and was eventually removed from lego.com without fanfare. Insert sad trombone here. Gasp, just found another screenshot, almost as bad in quality as the other one and also only showing a menu: http://www.bzpower.com/board/blog/1022/entry-74330-drome-racing-challenge-vs-lego-racers-challenge/ Also more old BZP discussion here, shows the general sentiment people had towards the game... http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/820-lego-racers-discussion/?p=10741 Jamesster.LEGO (talk) 05:42, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kinda funny what counts as a "reliable source" around here given how entirely misinformed that Kotaku article calling it a "Lego Racers remake" was... But ah well. Good enough for now; the misinformation was removed at least. Oh, for whenever you might get around to tidying things up, more on that 2009 game... Which is on a website now, so it's totally a reliable source, probably, even though the article is just whatever text I sent to the guy who runs Unseen64 and he posted it with little modification. ;P https://www.unseen64.net/2018/05/23/lego-racers-video-game-ds-wii-cancelled/ Jamesster.LEGO (talk) 05:49, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Xbox version

The article claims the Xbox version was only released in Europe, but I can't find any solid evidence it saw proper release at all... Never seen a copy on eBay, Amazon, etc, not even internationally... While all the other versions are easy to find. Only one gameplay video (claiming it was unreleased) was ever posted on YouTube, uploaded by the channel/website Obscure Gamers: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiLfWaIDo-4aLiN-ZcSMd-g But they then deleted a lot of their content: https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/beta-talk-and-deleted-content.24664/ https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/rules-update-future-of-og.24572/ For whatever it's worth, their Drome Racers video was called "Lego Drome Racers (Unreleased Xbox Port)" and was here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BttV4OGrICE It had some major slowdown issues; not sure if the game itself was that laggy or if that was just a result of them recording it... Got a potential lead on where this Xbox version came from... Currently, searching on Google for "obscuregamers" "drome racers" brings up a result for this URL... which doesn't work: https://dev.obscuregamers.com/threads/xbox-raptor-card.22021/ But Google's preview gives the excerpt ... they are used to emulate the Xbox DVD drive via PC. Either here are some pics of my sealed Raptor card I got with my DVT-4 that had Lego Drome Racers. Unfortunately Google doesn't have the page cached and it's not on the web archives. But I did some more googling and I think there's a decent chance it's the same person that posted this on another forum: https://assemblergames.com/threads/xbox-raptor-card-sealed.62687/ But... Here's a thread where they discuss another thing found on a DVT-4 devkit this guy owns, including a video showing everything on it, and Drome Racers is NOT on there: https://assemblergames.com/threads/unknown-xbox-game-tech-demo.64102/page-2#post-918618 So I guess Drome Racers was found on a different DVT-4 Xbox devkit than that one - maybe owned by the same guy as in those assemblergames threads, maybe not... But what this boils down to is the only confirmed case of anyone finding this port of Drome Racers, ever, was on a devkit. Smells like it was canceled to me. I'm personally not interested in hunting it down since it's effectively the same as the GameCube version, except possibly with severe lag issues... But mystery solved, at least.
