Someone changed the word "species" to "sub-species" a while back. I changed it back because - please note - Eastern Freshwater Cod are FULLY SEPARATE species of Maccullochella cod, NOT a sub-species.

Hi Codman! While that 1935 article is interesting and good info, it seems a little excessive to quote the complete thing here - that's an entire screen worth of (small-type) quotation, while the original is directly accessible via the link provided. I would like to reduce that somewhat to a one-paragraph summary (possibly with a short quote) and the link. Whatcha think?--Elmidae (talk) 08:28, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Codman: Before I get to that... It appears the "Conservation" section is entirely without references. However, from the edit history I see that you added a large number of references without connecting them to the text (as inline refs). That is rather crucial - it does the reader no good to have a huge batch of references at the end of the article without any idea which statement they are connected to. They might just as well not be there in that case :) Could you please link these refs to the text as inline refs (using ref tags)? Since you already know what refers to what, you are the only one who can do it without major extra effort. Then I'll condense the quote and prettify.--Elmidae (talk) 14:11, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you'd like, I can do the polishing - I only need to know which reference pertains to which text block. You could do this: just take each reference in its entirety, as it appears in the ref list now, and put it between ref tags at the end of the sentence or paragraph in question, like so:

<ref>Anon. (2004). New South Wales Eastern (Freshwater) Cod (Maccullochella ikei) Recovery Plan. New South Wales Department of Fisheries, Port Nelson, New South Wales, Australia.</ref>.
