Personal recollections
My comment re panning gold from the assay pulps: I was working in St. Joe's Tucson exploration office at that time (late 1970's), and panning gold from the El Indio pulps was a common lunch-break sport. Likely without the management's knowledge or approval ;-] --Pete Tillman (talk) 03:35, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- Additionally, I think the ore specimen I added to the article from the Wendy pit, Tambo mine has visible gold (lower middle left of specimen). But the writeup doesn't mention this! And the eye can be fooled. --Pete Tillman (talk) 03:46, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- Another recollection: the small miners at El Indio were recovering gold by piling up & burning the enargite. VERY important to stand upwind! --Pete Tillman (talk) 23:28, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
