European Investment Bank
Whereas the European Investment Bank (EIB) has been set up after the World War 2 in order to finance restructuring of the infrastructure in European countries, it has a couple of years ago extended its scheme to finance Medium and Small Businesses with an inclination to boost environmental friendly technologies.

Promotional tone
> The European Investment Bank issued the first Green Bond in 2007, called a Climate Awareness Bond. The EIB is the global leader of Green Bonds issuance with over EUR 30.8bn raised in 2020 across 16 currencies
↑ I don't know if it's the phrasing but even it's factual it feels like if it was promotional material from their website.
> He was named European Banker of the Year in 2019 for his contribution to economic stability and development in Europe.[143] Under Hoyer the European Investment Bank has funded EUR 150 billion in projects that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions
> The Bank funds projects in the areas of; climate, environment, innovation and skills, infrastructure, small and medium-sized enterprises, cohesion and development
"innovation and skills" is too vague. So is "cohesion"
> EIB Group and the European Investment Fund for Strategic Investments are part of a plan aimed at relieving investors of some of the risks inherent in projects. Project financing is granted after preliminary screenings of the viability and the carbon emissions associated with the projects.
Feels like promotional material and no source
> The EIB Group, is one of the world's main financiers of climate action
--Tuxayo (talk) 21:34, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- It's not "promotional" to assert a fact, especially an obvious one like being a "main financier" (the opposite would be surprising, given the eurozone's weight on global economy). We may also not like official terms like "cohesion"but it wouldn't be more neutral to make up alternative terminology.
- I suspect the issue may be one of excessive reliance on EU policy jargon. Nemo 15:20, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, the 'cohesion' thing comes from the EU's cohesion policy (https://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/2021-2027_en) which for the EIB means investing in projects that contribute to supporting regions that are doing less well so as to bring them economically up to speed with the richer areas. In 2022, the European Investment Bank introduced its new development arm "EIB Global". Since there is no information about this on the current page, I would like to update it with the latest info. Here is a (potential) paragraph to add:
EIB Global
EIB Global was launched in January 2022 as a development branch, to increase the Bank’s activities and cooperation with clients outside the European Union, and with other EU Member States, development finance institutions and other financial partners of the Bank. The total EIB Global financing reached 10.8 billion EUR in 2022. The branch is also supporting Global Gateway. [1]
