A story I have heard about Patriarch Evtimii says, that he was sentenced to death by the Ottoman invaders. But when the henchman lifted the ax to cut the head of Patriarch Evtimii, his hands stoned. The death penalty was transfered into exile. Does anyone know, if this is true, and what source the information comes from.

This story is described by Tsamblak and other writers from that time. I have personally read Tsamblak's description of the fall of Tarnovo. I don`t think that it is sound to automatically assume that this did not happen. The document points out a fact: the hand of the executor was paralyzed. The fact was interpreted as a miracle of God. You might dispute interpretations but facts should not be dismissed that easily. I think this should be included in the article. It follows 100% the most basic principle of history: If there is a document there is history.

I added a few of patriarch Evtimii's written works that survived (in original or as later transcripts) I will attempt to collect some more and if possible to add their texts as related articles.
