Chart Positions & Certifications

If someone could help me with the citations that were needed to verify the information needed for the chart positions and certifications, because I am not exactly sure what to do. I found the information on http://www.billboard.com & http://www.riaa.com

Badly written sentence

Eve recently launched her own clothing line "fetish", which is doing really well. If this could be clarified (i.e. with sales figures), it would improve the article.

Music

The music section needs a lot of help, it's just very poorly written. One example is calling Eve's debut album an "unprecedented success" followed immediately by citing a president. Or saying that the second album had "really, really" bad reviews or something to that effect (including spelling mistakes). Maybe I'll do it if it get the time, but in the meantime, I think it would be nice if someone takes a crack at fixing this section up a little. Cris Godparent 23:34, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Lip Lock section speculates it being released in 2011, but the discography list has the year 2012. Why the different years? 85.217.50.139 (talk) 04:38, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Girls Just Want to Have Fun

There needs to be clarification of the sentence claiming that "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" was a 1979 hit single for Cyndi Lauper. The song was originally written and recorded in 1979. Lauper covered the song in 1983, at which point it became a hit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.98.201.4 (talk) 06:23, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just looking at how this article got to (entertainer) in the first place. The original title Eve (rapper) is better than (singer), "rapper Eve" = 338 results in Google Books while "singer Eve" = 10 or so, difficult to find them, "singer Eve" throws up lots of results but almost none related to the rapper, and "entertainer Eve" = 0. • Comment. Remember from last time? These should be separate RMs, as they are separate subjects. Dohn joe (talk) 19:56, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
They're both "entertainers". In ictu oculi (talk) 21:56, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but each one should be considered separately, especially when no evidence is presented for either. Please split them, as per Talk:Larry_Miller_(comedian). Thanks. Dohn joe (talk) 22:32, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So you can oppose twice on two RMs? No. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:19, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is not about me. I haven't looked at any evidence for either one yet, so I have no idea how I would !vote. This is about a fair RM process, where two completely unrelated people, who happen to have the same disambiguator, can be judged on their own merits. Again, this issue came up at Talk:Larry_Miller_(comedian), and you were told to unbundle this kind of multi-RM. I'm just requesting that you do so again. Thanks. Dohn joe (talk) 11:53, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That was different, I was asked, I agreed, that was a dozen bios. This is two. Some contrast is necessary to illustrate the problem. Now please stop badgering. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:56, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Might not be worth doing it now, but for future reference it would be better if RMs like this were done separately and not as a multi. Jenks24 (talk) 12:49, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Again, not in my view, it's not worth doing, under normal circumstance - without one editor badgering as above - it is completely reasonable to deal with 2 similar RMs together. However... In ictu oculi (talk) 15:54, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it's badgering to ask that we follow previous consensus on this issue: Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(people)/Archive_8#.28entertainer.29 specifically says these "(entertainer)" RMs "ought to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis through discussion". So, thanks for doing so below. Dohn joe (talk) 16:30, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say Jenks was badgering, I asked you to stop. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:53, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved. The question is, what is the most appropriate disambiguator to use in the parenthesis. 'Entertainer' might be justified as a shorthand summary for use within Wikipedia, and we don't usually expect Google to reflect it much, but 'rapper' seems like an apt description which will be generally recognized. A majority of those responding here favor 'rapper'. Issues like this are bound to come up whenever a performer has more than one skill for which they are noted. We are not likely to put their entire resume in the parenthesis. The article was previously moved to

Eve (entertainer) back in 2009 but with no discussion. EdJohnston (talk) 20:21, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply

Talk:India (entertainer). In ictu oculi (talk) 16:01, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply

People calls her a "rapper-actress." The Encyclopedia of African American Actresses in Film and Television calls her "rapper, singer, actress and fashion designer." She's gotten Grammy nominations for her music, and Image nominations for her acting. It really is roughly equal. Also consistent with
Usher (entertainer), Rain (entertainer), et al. Thanks to nom for splitting the RM so we can consider each on its own merits. Dohn joe (talk) 16:23, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply
]
Actress returns zero using the "actress Eve" format in the nom. Please search using " " to delimit noise. Something like 15 previous (entertainer) RMs passed. Other RM regulars will probably know that
Usher (entertainer) are disrupted titles were there have been a succession of attempts to put the former over the Virgin Mary and the second over the meaning of an usher, so there have never been RMs to remove the honorific "entertainer", and RMs that have never happened are no precedent. Yes, Rain was 2:2, but unlike Rain Google book sources for Eve aren't in Korean. That's all I intend to say on this RM. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:50, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply
]
  • Support. I get what Dohn joe is saying, but I think in the case of "entertainer" it's just such a vague description that it hinders more than it helps. If there were another single word descriptor that covered actress and rapper then I'd be interested in that, but as it is I think the best option in this case is to just choose the description that the subject is most notable for and in this case it looks like that's "rapper". Jenks24 (talk) 06:59, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    Then why not "rapper-actress" like what People magazine calls her? Look at her discography and compare it to her filmography. She is really about equally notable for both. Dohn joe (talk) 14:08, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    Fair enough, "rapper-actress" would also be acceptable to me. Jenks24 (talk) 10:50, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom - She's more widely known as a rapper than a entertainer & IMHO it's misleading as is, –Davey2010(talk) 22:00, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as per John doe. Eve was also an actress - frankly, she might be more known for that among significant portions of the populace than for being rapper or a singer. --IJBall (talk) 03:32, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
