Frédéric Gounongbé → Frédéric Gounongbe – Incorrect spelling of player name. References are [1], [2] and [3]. His name is also spelled like this on the Dutch (nl:Frédéric Gounongbe) and French (fr:Frédéric Gounongbe). Relisted. • Support - there are a number of sources which spell the name with an 'é', however the majority seem to spell it with an 'e'. GiantSnowman 19:18, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral - the fact that Dutch-language sources accent Frédéric but not Gounongbé isn't particularly significant when the player is French-speaking. There's an issue generally with French-African surnames that accents can be left of for good reasons (emphasizing that it is actually an African surname) or for bad reasons (increased carelessness compared to more "French" French names). • I just want to second what
WP:OR but Francophone Africans tend to play fast and loose with accents on less "French" names (even on their own names), even in official contexts. —  AjaxSmack  03:17, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply
