I added the plot..

Give me feedback if it's good or not. You can remove it. KTT Talk :D contribz — Preceding undated comment added 21:32, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

I think that the story is, overall, fine, however, there are a few things that I think should be changed. Even though week 2 it was planned for Lemon Demon to appear, in current gameplay he now does not, but I'm not sure wether the "lemon demon tricked skid and pump to get GF story" is full cannon or partiallt canon... You also refer to Spirit as an "evil spirit" and while the "spirit" part is accurate, the evil part does not seem 100% unbiased, as... what makes him so particulary evil if his goal is the same as the one from everyone else you fight against in the game (to kill the protagonist)? Aside from that, your contribution seems nice to me, and it's appreciated. Teuf0rt (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 13:29, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Its fine, but it could be bit more formal, but it stills does it job well. Yeial (talk) 16:10, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

I don't think the plot elements are needed: if it's just something that the developers said on twitter, it doesn't matter. If it's in the game, I think adding it is fine though, which very little of this information is. -Anonymous, 3/17/2021 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.41.197 (talk) 16:35, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Is "open-source" really relevant enough to put in the first sentence?

It's true that being open source has helped the game's popularity through mods, but I don't think it's so relevant that it should one of the first things that people see. Aluminite (talk) 04:50, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

We should rewrite the Plot section.

Seriously though, there is a lot of lore that PhantomArcade has talked about on stream, and the section, as it stands, has almost no lore, even for weeks 6 and 7, that have lore that you can deduce without looking for a specific live stream. ThrowawayEpic1000 (talk) 03:20, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Maybe the link to the FNF wiki should be added

I think this link: https://fridaynightfunkin.fandom.com/wiki/Friday_Night_Funkin%27_Wiki should be added to the page as that wiki contains much more information than this page and is already pre-written, plus it contains all the vocal and instrumental tracks and would be a better source of information than what the Wikipedia page is right now. If I messed up anything while writing this or did it wrong, please tell me, I've done virtually no edits on this website so I don't have a great idea of if there are any formalities I have to follow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1702:a30:3950:9072:3b5c:5a3a:aaed (talk)

Not sure how this is relevant to the game. It isn't affecting the game in any way and there is nothing particularly noteworthy about this incident, especially since NinjaMuffin99 isn't even noteworthy enough to get their own Wikipedia article. Frogjg2003 (talk) 05:27, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Replace "free-to-play" with "donationware"?

Friday Night Funkin' technically does not lock any features behind paywalls (unlike free-to-play software), instead merely advertising donations. As such, I'm unsure over whether "free-to-play" is a misnomer here or no. Replacing the introductory sentence with "free and open-source donationware" would be more accurate... Casspedia (talk) 12:49, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

No PixeI-Knight (talk) 19:48, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Why not? There are no microtransactions or any other payment methods in game to unlock content or anything like that. Since a full release is planned and likely won't be free, it's at best shareware. For the moment, at least, calling it donationware seems appropriate. Frogjg2003 (talk) 05:03, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Is the mod example really necessary?

In the Development section, the article lists an "example" of a mod for the game. The mod used in the example isn't especially popular nor especially representative of the modding community, so if we need an example of a mod, this isn't the best one. More importantly, though, why do we even need an example of a mod? I can't think of a single other video game article that includes an example of a mod, especially a rather unimportant one like the one used. It just seems unnecessary. It also breaks the flow of the paragraph.

Also, even if we need an example of a mod, I doubt it belongs in the "Development" section. 69.143.204.138 (talk) 16:50, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Friday Night Funkin' is a Free-to-play rhythm game created by Ninjamuffin99. Originally published on Newgrounds, in late october 2020.

In Friday Night Funkin' you play as the man protagonist, "Boyfriend" confirming real name as "Ethan" Ethan is trying to get approval to date "Haley" the young demon we can see sitting on the speaker in all 27 weeks (those next 20 weeks), from Haley's Father, "Daddy Dearest" Who we can see in all 3 songs in week 1. Friday Night Funkin' includes many references to many other games, mainly flash games, including Pico's School, Who is the main antagonist in week 3. 153.107.48.133 (talk) 00:29, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

The only reason why I say this is because how many problems there are, how this article barley cites any sources (mostly at Gameplay), how much this is targeted for vandalism, how it has been nominated for deletion twice, a newgrounds flash game doesn't need to be on wikipedia (maybe fandom), and because this is mostly comprised of fancruft LittleMAHER1 (talk) 18:57, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

I think the problems are easily solvable, it should not really be the case of deletion. And Wikiipedia does not use past deletion submissions as a problem, especially if the article still exists.

Also, a deleted article can always return if the problems would no longer exist. Billy Beagle (talk) 10:17, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Would expanding the mod section be considered a fan edit or not?

Should there be any more information about mods? Do mods even deserve to be mentioned in the first place? What is considered a fan edit? Justanot (talk) 18:39, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

@Justanot: There should be no information about specific mods in this article whatsoever, as all mods are fan content and thus classify as WP:FANCRUFT. Most mods have not been extensively covered in articles to the point that they would be considered notable for inclusion on Wikipedia, and those that are mentioned in articles still do not need to be added to the article, because they simply do not qualify as vital information about the game.

As for what qualifies as "fan edits", in this case, adding in-depth information about Weeks, noting specific mods, or listing all characters in the game would be considered fan content, as said information generally is too in-depth for a Wikipedia article that is only intended to summarize the most important information about the game. (Additionally, writing things in such a way as "Friday Night Funkin' is a wonderful game with beautiful graphics and amazingly catchy music," would be the biased writing of a fan and should also be avoided per

WP:Point of view.) I recommend reading WP:FANCRUFT for more information. Hope this answered your questions. Blubewwy (talk

Minecraft modding is far different from FNF modding due to the fact that it requires actual coding, and far more effort than an FNF mod, which only requires a new character sprite sheet at minimum. That's also an article dedicated solely to modding, not the game of Minecraft itself. Mentions of specific mods on the Minecraft page would be considered just as unnecessary as the mentions of mods on this page (save for the mentions of Mojang-made mods, which are relevant due to the fact that they come from the studio that made the game. No such mods exist from the creators of FNF). This article only needs to note that modding has helped the game to grow in popularity, it doesn't need actual mods in it, regardless of sources. They would not be needed for anyone who only comes here for a brief overview of the game. Here's what I said to another user on this topic, as I feel it's relevant to this: "There should be no information about specific mods in this article whatsoever, as all mods are fan content and thus classify as WP:FANCRUFT. Most mods have not been extensively covered in articles to the point that they would be considered notable for inclusion on Wikipedia, and those that are mentioned in articles still do not need to be added to the article, because they simply do not qualify as vital information about the game." It still isn't necessary to mention specific FNF mods because they haven't seen much extensive coverage in reliable sources, and they aren't critical information about FNF.

Yes, but I don't see how that's relevant to the notability of FNF.

"transcore"

What does transcore mean on Friday Night Funkin' is a transcore rhythm game...? I tried to find it on the internet and it relates to something like boys that look like girls, which I fail to see on the subject. Hans5958 talk 14:29, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

@Hans5958 Quite frankly, I have no idea what it means either. If you're sure it doesn't relate to a rhythm game, then you can probably remove it. Blubewwy (talk) 15:28, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Name Order

David "PhantomArcade" Brown's name should be listed first in the introduction considering he is the creator of the game as well as the director, designer, writer, and one of the artists. Carolineovo (talk) 13:56, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

PhantomArcade did not make FNF. Ninjamuffin99 did. Regardless of how much work PhantomArcade did, he did not make the game. He didn't come up with the idea, and he is not the lead programmer. Ninjamuffin99 is. Every single article across the entirety of the internet states that Ninjamuffin99 is the creator and lead developer, and he is listed first in every single one.
