Surely a front end web developers role now includes usage of PHP and Mysql, this article needs updating to reflect this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.157.254.237 (talk) 10:37, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

More Info needed for this article

I myself is a front-end developer and to be honest this article is so poorly written, it needs a lot of information to be added. I tried adding good information but my contributions are being reverted for no reasons by people who don't even know what front-end development is. They think HTML,CSS,JS are tools while they are content managment system.

Comment

This article is poorly written and needs a knowledgeable editor. I am not that person. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.242.86.78 (talk)

Rename to "Front end web development"

I wish the page were renamed to "Front end WEB development." That's really what we're talking about here. There are other front ends besides the web's.Feugene (talk) 01:50, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes,
Front End Web Development, to Web development. The two pages are quite different, so adding {{merge}} seems premature. -- SPage (WMF) (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:36, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply

hyphenate the title

You have to hyphenate the adjectival phrase otherwise it can be read as "the front to end development", and that momentary hesitation impedes reading. See http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/34447/is-it-front-end-frontend-or-front-end , and note how most Wikipedia articles correctly hyphenate Client-side foo. I agree with the other topic #Rename to "Front end web development", Front-end web development is a better title.

Front end development

This article is titled as a misnomer, as per the content of the article. Front-end is defined as "Of or relating to the part of a software system or online service that the user interacts with: a front-end application.", "Of or relating to the part of a business that is accessible or visible to the general public: front-end operations."

I suggest renaming this article to "Client-side development", which more appropriate reflects it's content. A front-end developer does not necessarily code exclusively using HTML/CSS/JS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.243.151.216 (talk) 22:47, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Client-side development also includes mobile applications and desktop non-web applications (so does "Front-end development"). Only way to keep the content of this article is to add "web" to the title. 2620:0:1006:1:95AA:4FEB:A35A:F6E0 (talk) 21:45, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Front end development → Front-end web development – Please place your rationale for the proposed move here. 2620:0:1006:1:95AA:4FEB:A35A:F6E0 (talk) 21:47, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply

  • Support per Dicklyon, ridiculously parochial, not about the styling of the front fenders of cars. -- 70.51.46.39 (talk) 10:45, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Add more tools to the list "Tools used for front-end development"

The heading says "Tools used for front-end development" and there are only 3 of them mentioned in the article body. The content piece needs to be updated and extend the list. Lucianvince (talk) 12:09, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They aren't really tools either, They are Content management systems. This section is poor, it probably should have a bit about use of CMSs and just link to the CMS page. --173.177.183.115 (talk) 12:21, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
