I just changed First Garfield Story to First Garfield Cartoon and the like (basically, I just changed mentions of story to cartoon in the section which describes the format.) If somebody can find the answer, could they add why all the references to U.S. Acres were changed to Orson's Farm on the DVD releases? I know that was the name used for foreign syndication, but AFAIK "U.S. Acres" was used both for CBS and the syndicated airings in the United States, so why do the Region 1 DVDs use the Orson's Farm name? The only use of the U.S. Acres name was one of the quickies on Volume 2 was called U.S. Acres Quickie, every other short and full length segment uses the Orson's Farm name. I can't believe I have to fight for this point, but describing Nermal as androgynous is as ridiculous as trying to describe Bert and Ernie as gay. It goes against the fact that Nermal has long been established as a male in both the comic strip and the cartoon(s). I think you're exagerating a little bit. First, it's not much of a "fight", we both reverted once and stopped, and then started this discussion. Secondly, I'm not sure you quite understand the definition of androgyny. Read Androgyny. It merely means "referring to the combination of masculine and feminine characteristics" and "not fit cleanly into the typical masculine and feminine gender roles of their society". It's not like it'd be calling Nermal a transvestite or something, it's just saying he has masculine-like and feminine-like traits, which doesn't seem too out of line, considering how "cutesy" he looks/acts, how he was voiced by a female in the cartoons, etc. Sergecross73 msg me 17:35, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I find it interesting that you rejected someone else adding a description of Garfield that's actually from the comic strip while defending a description of Nermal that's nothing but an editor's invention. Did you read the whole comment? The emphasis wasn't that it was from the comic, but that the description's purpose ("meatball") was to be a punchline to a joke, not be an actual, helpful description for the character. Here's a valid reason: The poor grammar in her description makes it unclear what her role in the show was. Here's another reason: The addition is unsourced. And a third reason: A rudimentary Google search on "'Garfield and Friends' Lenore" yields no

Also, you're talking about a very minor character, who was only in that episode and was merely part of a spoof of a certain Edgar Allen Poe story (hence the name Lenore). For a while, the show aired in an hour-long block on CBS, with only one intro and one set of closing credits. These were broken up into half-hour shows for syndication. Since Garfield's tag in the intro would sometimes reference things from the second half-hour but absent when broken apart (for example, the "It Must Be True" episode mentions Binky the Clown appearing, but he is not present in the half-hour edit), it's clear these were not simply two episodes stitched together.
