Yes it is, this is apparently permitted for non-commercial purposes, see the Governor-generals's website. -Dhodges 00:22, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, Wikipedia cannot accept content for non-commercial purposes. Our copyright policy requires that material be licensed for modification and commercial reuse. Accordingly, I have rewritten what text I found remaining or derivative from that source. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:02, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the immediately previous version of this article and the source and I don't see where any copyvio existed; one sentence you removed was close to the original source's wording, but not a direct copy; all it takes is a little tweak in the composition to make it even more different, rather than simply deleting valid facts. Otherwise, the edits made didn't greatly alter the wording here.
- I should point out that the original comments to which you responded were made three and a half years ago, when the page looked like this, and was a direct copy of the source (tisk tisk, Wikipedia ancients!), but the page has been greatly re-written since then. --MIESIANIACAL 16:40, 17 January 2010 (UTC)]

Medals
I have added details for the 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, France and Germany Star and Defence Medal which are visible in the photograph here and painting here. The ribbon of the Africa Star is difficult to make out, but the stars for three World War II campaign stars are evident. Given his war service, and the order of wear for stars, it is all but certain that the second star is the Africa Star (the 1939-45 Star and France and Germany Star are both identifiable in the painting and photograph), however more explicit referencing would be good if someone can find it - I tried but couldn't find anything. GG tenure
I'm confused. In the content it appears as though Vanier is discussing with Pearson, the idea of serving more then 5 years as GG. Yet at this point, Vanier has already served over 7 years as GG. GoodDay (talk) 23:11, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it was less than seven years, but I see your point. --MIESIANIACAL 23:16, 1 October 2010 (UTC)]

Right Honourable
George Vanier did not become a Right Honourable directly upon entering upon his viceregal tenure. The custom for Governors General to be "Right Honourable" only began after his death, in the "Table of titles to be used in Canada" of 1967. All previous Governors General, including the immediate predecessor, Massey, had already been members of the British Privy Council or had been peers upon their appointment as Governor General, which explains why they had already been Right Honourables or more. Vanier, however, was made a British Privy Counsellor during his viceregal tenure, in 1963, to reflect which I propose to update the list of his titles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.195.119.214 (talk) 06:42, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
