The Past?

This whole article has been written from a very modern point of view, with basically no weight being given to the past. There was a Nazi Germany at the time the UN was created. Then there was Allied-occupied Germany, and two Germanies... a whole lot of history that needs to be covered... I did some elementary introduction in the lead, but that is hardly worth mentioning.
