Sangju Sangmu Phoenix → Sangju Sangmu FC – It was renamed to 'Sangju Sangmu FC'. Korean Wikipedia's article was also renamed to Sangju Sangmu FC(상주 상무 축구단) because of same reason.[1] They are marking '상주 상무 프로축구단'(means Sangju Sangmu FC) at offical web site. Thanks. Merge discussion for
Gwangju Sangmu FC

I propose that

Sangju Sangmu FC. The articles are almost identical, and Gwangju Sagmu is even a subheading of the Sangju FC history. Gwangju FC
is not related to either and has a completely separate article.

Agree Gwangju Sangmu just changed the team's name to Sangju Sangmu. Not different team.z4617925 (talk) 14:30, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose.
Sangju Sangmu FC is officially different club by K League
. Not the just change club name. Sangju Sangmu FC is founded on 2011. You can check out the official founding year at K League website.

http://www.kleague.com/kr/sub.asp?avan=1006010000&league_id=2&team_id=K23& Yes, of course, Two clubs has same root from Sangmu-Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps. But K League's policy is Sangmu is just player provider. Gwangju and Sangju, two differenent cities are main club control body. So K League separate two clubs.Footwiks (talk) 08:12, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion So why are the talk pages merged and why are the articles almost identical? A separate legal entity does not necessarily deem a merger not valid, technically Sachsen Leipzig/BSG Chemie Leipzig is good example of convoluted history but enough causation to have one as opposed 3-4 separate articles every time the club reformed. Same goes for many reformed Italian clubs for example. Abcmaxx (talk) 14:03, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree Actually, I opposed in 2014. But I watched Gwangju Sangmu and Sangu Sangmu articles for two years. As I mentioned, Although These club had same root, Offcially, two clubs are different each club by K League policy. But articles are almost same and there isn't effectiveness of keeping two independent.Footwiks (talk) 11:46, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
