It is unclear whether there is a link between the Japanese-character translations and the Hachijō romanisation, so it appears that potentially the Japanese characters refer to the Japanese-language equivalent, as they do not correlate to the romanisation. @NipponGinko Sorry for the late reply! In Kaneda (2001), which I originally quoted the utterances from, the Japanese forms are meant to be only translations, not transcriptions of the Hachijō text. Kaneda does try to make them line up morpheme-by-morpheme as much as possible, but they're just translations. My proposal would be to move the Japanese forms back down into the translation lines, under or to the right of the English translations. Alternatively, we could remove the Japanese translations completely to eliminate any possible confusion, though I feel we might lose valuable information for readers if we did that. -- LhikJovan (talk) 18:40, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
