I am editing this page for my Behavioral Ecology class at Washington University in St Louis. I added information about the physiology and behavior of this species as well as updated the habitat and geographic range. Srosefuqua (talk) 19:40, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I explained in the lead section why speciation and the change in phenotype resulted in lower fitness (because of loss of Mullerian mimicry). I also changed the structure of the lead section and added some information to the second paragraph to “tell the story” better and explain some of the concepts briefly. I edited the grammar of the origins section. I would suggest potentially moving pollination to its own section, but will leave that up to Srosefuqua. Under genetics, I would suggest putting hybridization before the list of subspecies. I changed the heading gustatory (adj.) to its noun form gustation and added tasting to make the article more accessible to the average Wikipedia reader. Otherwise I think the article looks great!Felderp (talk) 05:25, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Heliconius melpomene

Hello.

Overall, the content of the article was academically engaging and easy to follow. I especially liked the usage of photos in the article as they served as visual aids that helped me understand the article more effectively. I edited the lead section by adding more information that I thought was important/unique to this species. Also, I made small changes in the Taxobox and added more hyperlinks(wiki-links) so that it's easier for readers to approach the article.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Sungjaepark (talk) 09:23, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I really enjoyed the array of photos. Very fun! I do think the subspecies section is a bit overstated, but I don't see much harm in it. I added a citation and some info on the description of the adult. Also, I found some possibly conflicting info about its feeding habits... (http://tolweb.org/Heliconius_melpomene/72252). I hesitate to make changes since you are the expert for this species. But worth checking out. Besides that, the article is solid. Well balanced. Ecampell22 (talk) 03:19, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Edit Suggestions - for Behavioral Ecology course

I thought that this was a very well written article! It is very clear, concise, and to the point. For instance, the Food section had a great use of subsections, and had a lot of good detail that was very well organized. Some suggestions to include may be separating Geographic Range and Habitat into two separate sections. Also, another suggestion for improving this article is that it would be great if you had some sections about social behavior and also about its life cycle. I also suggest that it may be nice to include a little more detail in places such as describing the compound in oviposition or providing more information about which taste receptors in the physiology section.
