Date of birth

1850 or 1851? Footnote explains the conflicting source. The bibliographical details of the Princess Grace library site are here: [1]. Moreover, see also Tomes, Jason: "Solomon, Edward (1855–1895)", Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, online edn, Oxford University Press, accessed 25 Oct 2009, which also gives Stephens's d.o.b as 1850. I'm inclining to the view that the DNB's endorsement tips the balance in favour of 1850. The DNB also refers to Stephens as Irish, but that isn't necessarily to come down for Dublin -v- Barrow-on-Soar. The source so far quoted in the article (https://www.gsarchive.net/british/authors/stephens.html) is itself quoting another source, and on balance I'm inclined to take the direct quote from the DNB. I agree that the boisestate site is not always meticulous about dates. While DNB also makes mistakes, I'd favour DNB. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:45, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm promoting the article to C-class. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:26, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
