Improperly titled photo
The same person who keeps posting an improperly titled photo on the "Huizhou University" wiki also keeps adding the photo (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7b/Huizhou_City_Green_Market.JPG/220px-Huizhou_City_Green_Market.JPG) "Picturesque shopping style at the local green market". Yet the photo shows a dirty street with a streetside vendor selling vegetables. This is neither 'picturesque', 'shopping', nor 'a local green market'. If the intention is to show a picturesque shopping scene then please find a better photo, and if the intention is to try and make the city look ugly then please find a forum other than Wikipedia. The picture shows a green market not far from Huizhou College (wrongly described as Huizhou University on Wikipedia in English, while in Chinese it is properly named xueyuan, to wit: college, not university).
The image is relevant, informative and a good reference of variegated societal norms represented throughout the world. Western kitch idea of what is nice obviously, as the photo clearly shows, does not apply the world over, the Chinese have a different concept of whhat is pretty and functional. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.245.181.243 (talk) 17:05, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Could you tell me what source you are using when claiming that the Chinese interpretation of 'picturesque' is different from the 'western' ('western' doesn't describe any one society very well - it would help to be more specific) interpretation? I'd argue that images of the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, temples all throughout the country, etc - many taken by Chinese photographers - demonstrate that 'picturesque' is fairly equivalent in Chinese and American or British culture. Likewise, 'shopping' would best be displayed using either an interior shot of a Chinese shopping mall or perhaps a large outdoor market. A single street vendor is hardly demonstrative of the typical shopping experience in China. Nor is it a good example of 'a green market'. Why not use a picture of an actual market? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.179.123.81 (talk) 15:08, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Army
The 42nd Group Army of the PLA is described as "responsible for the defense of China's southern coast and its border with Vietnam." This is not entirely correct. The PLA is the army of the Chinese Communist Party, not the army of China. Its role is primarily to maintain the hegemony of the Party, as seen during the Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989. The article should reflect this dual role.203.80.61.102 (talk) 23:04, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You must be right. But the article is about a region, not a detailed piece about the army, and the statement is not exclusive but rather focusing on a responsibility of the army in the region, so it is not offensive in its present form. I would suggest you look into the coverage specific to the PLA in other pages to ensure the balance you seek is well represented. sirlanz 01:12, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would question the source of the temperature ranges, particularly for December/January when it frequently gets close to 3 or 4 degrees. At this time, the "Cold Weather Warning" is often issues in HK, Huizhou being slightly north of there. Hanoi Road (talk) 12:51, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
