most notable as Helen Reddy's first hit?

I'm deleting the above assertion from the article's intro. I've retained a mention of Reddy's version in the article's intro but feel I'm evincing no disrespect by deleting the subjective assertion that the chief significance of I Don't Know How to Love Him is that the song afforded Reddy her first hit. I am the editor who set up the section for the Reddy version and am responsible for most of that section's contents and also the infobox. With my awareness of Reddy's version I feel I'm acting fairly in deleting the assertion: "Most notably, this was the tune that launched the career of Helen Reddy" on the grounds that it's fancruft.Cherrylimerickey (talk) 23:44, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Appropriate sections for info

Just to gently stress that the article's set up in sections for theatrical & non-theatrical versions as some editors seem to be adding versions indiscriminately. There may be some cases where the appropriate section is a judgment call but I've previously had to delete the Agnetha Faltskog version from the non-theatrical section when it was already entered in the theatrical section (Faltskog originated the Magdalene role in the Swedish production of JCS) & I have just had to move the info re Polish Idol Alicja Janosz' performance from the theatrical section to the non-.--Cherrylimerickey (talk) 21:34, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Have just shifted Melanie C info to theatrical from non- .--Cherrylimerickey (talk) 22:46, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Missing information

It's remarkable that this 32k article does not have any description of the arrangement, tempo, or overall theme of the song. bd2412 T 14:18, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:YvonneEllimanIDontKnowHowToLoveHim.ogg

File:YvonneEllimanIDontKnowHowToLoveHim.ogg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Variations to lyrics?

This may not be very important but it may be worth incorporating in the article. In the Guardian recently somebody claimed that a low point of representations of Mary Magdalene is this song with its line "I've had so many men before is very many ways". I wondered if I was suffering from false memory, since I remembered it as "I've know so many men before in oh so many ways", which you can read a lot into, but is slightly less explicit. Checking on youtube, Mel C's version is as stated in the Guardian, but there is a recording of Petula Clark from 1972 which has the version I remember. Genre??

By what strange criterion is the genre of this song or single release categorized as “folk”? I will change it soon, and unless somebody has a better idea, to perhaps “Art Rock” as the album is categorized. Let me know David Couch (talk) 09:39, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
