I don't mean to criticize anyone, but what's with all the italicized text? Gladrius 03:21, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Titles of works (or TV shows in this case) are always italicized by convention.
If you mean the character and location names, it's standard practice to italicize or bold the first instance of a name appearing in an article (for fictional works) to mark its introduction, mostly just to set it apart distinctly in the reader's mind. The usefulness of this practice becomes more apparent where invented terminology (eg. "galvacite"), foreign or distorted spellings, or appropriated language for fictional names may otherwise confuse uninitiated readers. (That's why you'll notice fewer italics as the page progresses, as readers are expected by then to be more familiar with concepts of the story.)
In a few other places, I've italicized words or collective terms for emphasis, where figurative speech is employed (eg. "undying love" playing against "undead",) or for clarity. For instance: "...renders Krygen and Pyre evil while changing Metlar's personality to good." — Fans of the show can recognize this event as bizarre because they already know that these characters have strictly polarized (one-dimensional) moral qualities, but other readers wouldn't.
I've removed some unnecessary offenders: The italics on "toxic waste" (in the Cyperoid synopsis) and "zombie" (in Cult of Darkness synopsis) have instead been made into Wiki-links — other examples could could follow suit, if related Wikipedia pages are available for whatever topics. Foreign words are also typically italicized to clearly identify them as such (rather than potentially being mistaken for typos), but "faux heroics" doesn't really need to be italicized — what fool wrote that section? Oh yeah, it was me. :D
In Nightcrawler's profile, the bracketted editorial comment "(originally named Toxoid)" has been changed to plain text with parens. The original italics exercised there were someone else's doing which previously I left uncorrected because I dislike using square brackets within Wikipedia text given that the coding of page tags also uses square brackets, potentially causing some subsequent passer-by to consider that it was an incomplete link-tag and mistakenly "fix" it by adding double square brackets (which has happened to something I wrote on another page); I've marked it here with a "/nowiki" tag.
