Lombardi synopsis should be removed

This is very misleading and shouldn't be in the article at all. The synopsis and characters in Jerusalem are completely different. it's not a simple translation into French. The correct synopsis is here [1] Better to leave the synopsis blank section than to add something completely wrong. Voceditenore (talk) 17:12, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Lombardi sysnopsis was here for 10 mins while scenes and acts were re-arranged and the correct synopsis written and added in over a couple of hours or so. Panic over. Viva-Verdi (talk) 21:59, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First UK Production

The current article states that the first UK production was 1990. However, there is a youtube clip that purports to be a live recording of June Anderson (with others, and chorus) from a 1983 production at Covent Garden. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLou3E1agi0. Can this be confirmed? NickInBigD (Hey!) 04:04, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The recording (audio only, no video) doesn't say it was from a staged production. It may have been sung as a concert piece. Anderson's official website does not list the role as being in her repertoire, and the Royal Opera House archives show no staged productions of Jérusalem, although they had planned one for their Verdi Festival which began in 1995 and was to run through 2001 (it was abandoned half way through because of financial difficulties). There are multiple sources giving the 1990 Opera North production as the first staged performance in Britain. Also, this may well be a "pirate" recording, and in my experience such recordings are often poorly documented with many errors. Voceditenore (talk) 10:15, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lead image

Just to be clear in advance, I fully intend to lose the current lead image: Tancred is not a character in Jérusalem, after all. Adam Cuerden (talk) 10:23, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The distinction between Jerusalem and Jérusalem is based on the glyph é, which is not standard in the English and American writing system, and therefore the differentiation is not sufficient to make this article Jérusalem be considered distinct from Jerusalem. -There is a Fabric Throughout all of Reality (talk) 21:35, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As an aside, I argue in regards to the Ottoman era "Jérusalem" (as seen in this page in
Servet-i Funun) has affinity with the topic. The reason why is that French was in the Ottoman era post-Tanzimat what English is today in many non-native countries and Jerusalem of course was in the empire back then. See Languages of the Ottoman Empire which cites the researcher Johann Strauss. WhisperToMe (talk) 06:15, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply
