I've found a couple of reliable sources with details of Danforth's career, please review these and add citations where you can. If you want to reference his IMDB filmography, a reusable reference name has been used.

Of particular interest would be some corroboration of his resignation from the Academy after KING KONG's Oscar. Its hard to find facts about it as there's a lot of conjecture (and Danforth wasn't forthcoming IIRC). Tough one, but worth noting as he's known for resigning in protest after the DeLaurentiis "coerced" a special effects award for the mechanical Kong, though it was only on screen for 13 seconds.

The page has a claim that he was given "carte blanche" for stop-motion work on KONG, but a reference off-site claims he was initially retained, then dropped ... and Rick Baker in a suit was used instead. This could contribute to his ire, if stop-motion effects were NOT used, but the film got an Oscar as if they had. Anyway, any help in providing

I did what I could with that 1978 magazine interview article (not a transcription) and Neil Pettigrew's book, but there were some things that I couldn't document, for example just which Outer Limits episodes he worked on. Just a couple of months prior to that interview, Starlog had a news item about Danforth's resignation, but it didn't really jibe with what was said about it in the article, so I didn't trust either to that. That tag said that the article "doesn't cite any references or sources" (emphasis its) and I couldn't find any way to merely reduce that, so I removed the thing. --Tbrittreid (talk) 22:38, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
