The Who's Who of West Ham United states that his debut came against Port Vale in a 3-0 win in September 1921 (reproduced by Spartacus although they don't give the month/score). However, he is not in the line-up for that game, on 10 September (or the other game against Vale that month),[1][2], and his debut is recorded as 27 December against Bury in The Complete Record (see also [3][4]).
