Kaufman served in the air force in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Generally, in the United States, one has to receive the Vietnam Service Medal to be considered a military veteran of the Vietnam War. For this article, it would be helpful to cite a reliable reference that says she received that medal, which is eligible for those in Thailand who directly supported the war.
