Discography

The discography is comprehensive, but hard to follow. Is someone willing to create a separate list, above all the others, of Joe Henry's own albums, rather than including them in his production credits? BlackCab (talk) 00:08, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have reconfigured the entire discography section to conform to
MOS:WORKS, listing earliest albums first. The previous discography section was an ugly mess of everything combined, was listed in the wrong order, contained excessive detail and also consisted of a table layout that overwhelmed the article. BlackCab (TALK) 04:06, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply

Under "Reception" - why so many cliches?

So this is what it says under "Reception""

"Henry has been described as "a modest-selling 'critic's darling' with a reputation for pushing the envelope"[17] who writes "songs [that] don't fit into an easily defined box"[18] and instead is influenced by folk, blues, jazz, rock and country."

Phrases such as "pushing the envelope", "critic's darling" and saying Henry doesn't fit into "an easily defined box" - It would be better to say what he actually does and how that make him unique. The list of American musicians influenced by folk, blues, jazz, rock and country is almost endless. This hardly makes Henry unique.

Earlier in the "1985 to 2005" section there is a quote saying a reviewer called one of Henry's albums "idiosyncratic broadmindedness". I have no idea what this means - especially as it relates to singer/song writers.

Also, it is mentioned twice that Henry married Madonna's sister. I think on first reference we might want to give her name. But I left it as it was being unsure about style.

Thanks.

Collaborations with John Denver

Joe Henry's main claim to fame seems to have been his collaborations with John Denver -- and yet Denver's name is not mentioned once in this entry -- is there a reason? Clevelander96 (talk) 00:35, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

He would have been 16 in 1976. Are we certain this is the same artist? DDB (talk) DDB (talk) 09:14, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
