Removal of material

KAOS is still on the air. --- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.211.31.72 (talk) 21:49, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that this person cited WP:NOT#DIR in the edit comment, but I cannot see how that even remotely applies to this article! Listing some of our more active programmers and popular shows does not constitute a directory listing by any stretch of the imagination. And if Brianhe believed otherwise, then s/he should have posted the argument here in talk instead of just unilaterally deciding to delete most of the article. If you're going to apply a massive revision to an edit from MORE THAN A YEAR AGO, then you have an obligation to consult the rest of us here in discussion first to make sure there's a consensus. Clearly, such a consensus did not exist, as you would have found if you'd bothered to post your suggestion for this massive reversion here in talk first. =) Sir kris (talk) 19:45, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why most of the article and show links were butchered, because the person who did it neglected to post any explanation in this discussion area. This unilateral action is a violation of Wikipedia's community posting guidelines. I have reverted to the most-recent edit prior to the stripping-down. If the person who did that is reading this, please post an explanation for your actions here and allow us to discuss and debate them before you unilaterally delete most of the article. 76.104.240.119 (talk) 19:29, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History of KAOS

Hello, I am pretty new to Wikipedia and somewhat familiar with its standards, so I may well make a mistake in starting to create a history of KAOS for this Wiki entry. If I made a mistake, please let me know where I was in error so I can learn from my mistakes. I have started soliciting content from KAOS DJs who have been around a while. Brianhe, or anybody else, I think we should totally work on making this a great and real page (not a stub.)

Sounds great, I'm all for expanding the article. I have no special affiliation with KAOS other than having won an on-air contest at about age 10 and being an ex-part time 'greener. I'll just volunteer to keep up the editorial cleanups but I don't really have content to contribute right now.

Thanks for your help. I often times overlook misspellings, so that helps. I am actually going to be making a website for my Evergreen program that is about the history of KAOS (there is no history written yet or any timelines or anything of the sort.) I am thinking of making a "history" section after the intro paragraph once I collect the content for that section. I am thinking of moving the Kurt Cobain appearance mention in the intro to the history section. Once again, thanks! P.S: what did you win when you were 10? Also, at what point is an entry not a stub anymore?
You certainly will qualify as the subject matter expert on the station so go for it! I won some album from their library ... a promo I think but I don't remember who it was (long time ago). The challenge was to correctly identify the theme from The Prisoner TV series.
As for when it's not a stub, whenever you think it's sufficient to call it not a stub! The stub notation mainly exists to attract people who are willing to flesh out incomplete articles. It also helps sometimes to put articles in the right categories when they don't yet have category tags. I'd say it's probably ready now to have the stub tag removed.

Discussion page formatting and Refimprove tag

I formatted the above discussions as a Talk page should be structured. Future editors should use the"New Section" tab to start new discussions, while those with comments to add should use the "Edit" links for the appropriate sections.

I added the Refimprove tag because there's just one footnote for the entire article. I noticed that one editor urged another to add to the history because they're a "subject expert". Nothing should be added that comes from anyone's personal knowledge. Only published and other similarly authoritative sources should be used and even then, only with the proper citations so that both readers and editors can verify the information.
