    September 2023 edits

Rakishgobi, can you explain why you would like to make the changes that were just reverted? Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 18:32, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to make the changes that were just reverted because Kalyan Jewellers recently provided its first dividend after the IPO listing. I included this information along with a source link to support the update. However, someone reverted the edit. I would like to understand the reason for the revert to ensure that the information I added aligns with Wikipedia's guidelines and policies Rakish (talk) 18:36, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted because it is routine financial activity - Wikipedia isn't a news outlet (

I appreciate your explanation, and I respect Wikipedia's guidelines. However, I would like to provide a counterpoint for consideration. While Wikipedia may not be a news outlet, it aims to be a comprehensive and up-to-date reference source. Including significant financial events such as a company's first dividend after an IPO can provide valuable historical context and insight into the company's growth and milestones. It can also be relevant to investors and researchers seeking to understand the company's history. In cases where such events are deemed significant and supported by reliable sources, they can enhance the article's depth and completeness. I believe this information adds value to the article without turning Wikipedia into a news platform. I'm open to discussing this further and finding a balanced approach that aligns with Wikipedia's guidelines and the encyclopedia's role as a valuable reference source Rakish (talk) 18:57, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Check the below article and its also mentioned dividend details.

@Firefangledfeathers Can you review this, if you don't mind. Rakish (talk) 19:07, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Coca-Cola has paid an increasing annual dividend for 57 years. That is a very unusual statistic and gets non-routine coverage from reliable sources. That is not at all the same thing.

My first thought, when thinking about companies that pay dividends, is Coca-Cola. It's an exceedingly encyclopedic fact that they've been paying one for so long (over a hundred years). I don't think this article has any need to mention the first dividend. I'm more likely to find that info on a financial database site than in an encyclopedia.
