Kevin Long (footballer)Kevin Long (association footballer) – per hatnote: there are two other American footballers with this name so, potentially, "footballer" may be ambiguous. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 09:55, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. I think he's already at the correct title.
    WP:NCSP#Association football (soccer)
says When there are multiple people with the same name, and only one of them is a player of association football: ... If the person is neither American, Australian, Canadian nor South African, use (footballer).
  • This Kevin Long is the only player of association football and has none of those nationalities, so (footballer) looks right. The two players of American football are titled by playing position as per

  • Oppose Those who play gridiron football are not referred to as "footballers", and the current disambiguation tags are correct per
WP:NCSP. I'll leave it up while the RM is ongoing, but I believe the current hatnote at Kevin Long (footballer) is unnecessary. 162 etc. (talk) 17:17, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply

  • Oppose - no ambiguity, as American football players are not referred to as 'footballers' (as far as I am aware). GiantSnowman 09:45, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Its highly unlikely that any American would ever realistically say footballer to refer to an nfl player, the same way no one says mlb or nba players are baseballers or basketballers. I agree with User:162 etc. that the hatnote should be removed, or at least changed, because "American footballers" when it's just nfl players is a misnomer. --Quiz shows 18:09, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. American football players are not called footballers. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:20, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
