Date of birth: 1920 or 1922?

This article (https://www.nytimes.com/1972/07/05/archives/kim-yong-ju-north-korea.html) says he was born in 1922. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philologick (talkcontribs) 02:15, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Philologick: Every other source says 1920, and it makes no sense that a NYT journalist from the 1970s would know better than the rest. The best source is probably the NK Info portal by the Ministry of Unification and it says 1920. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 11:48, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. The NY Times is a reliable source. This 2017 Al Jazeera article also suggests 1922. The NKA death announcement didn't give an age at all, but if he had celebrated a centenary in 2020, then the NKs would have made a big deal of it and he would've been honoured in the way that they do with all senior figures reaching that milestone. It seems to me that 1922 is more likely and yet 1920 has just been lazily copied everywhere after it was used once. We should include both years in the article with a note to reflect the uncertainty IMO, but interested to hear the views of other users. Source for exact Birthdate: https://www.newsnpr.org/the-ups-and-downs-of-his-younger-brother-kim-nhat-thanhs-life/ --Intimidator (talk) 22:45, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That is the date that someone kept inserting, unsourced, into Wikipedia. Not credible without a pre-Wikipedia source. Mewulwe (talk) 22:52, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's a valid source. Perhaps the Birthdate is simply true. --Intimidator (talk) 00:49, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No it isn't. Actually the whole site is automatically generated nonsense (the "Kim Il-sung (Kim Il-sung)" part is a dead giveaway, and the fact that the title inexplicably uses the Vietnamese name Kim Nhat Thanh). Mewulwe (talk) 09:39, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
