Proposed merge with Somalia's Italian language

Lots of duplicate information, but the loanwords section could be useful. cnzx 23:58, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I totally DISAGREE. I have changed some of the duplicate information. Anyway, the loanloards section is related only to Italian words used in the Somali language and has nothing to do with the article about languages of Somalia. Then there are the paragraphs referenced to Siad Barre and to writer Cristina Ali Farah that are in the article about Somalia's Italian language, while are not cited in the article about Somalia languages. IMHO we should write additionally new articles about Somalia's Arab language & Somalia's English language and do not reduce the Wikipedia articles like proposed with this illogical merge. Wikipedia needs to grow (not the contrary)...--103tir (talk) 03:41, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MERGE. I like the content in the new article and think that it should stay, but also I'm concerned about the title, which is part of why I nominated it for merging (I don't like the possessive "Somalia's" which I think is unusual). There is also this issue of whether we should take content out of Languages of Somalia and move it into the article that you created, which may be more logical, or the other way around. Please feel free to share your suggested alternative. cnzx (talkcontribs) 23:50, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply

proposal for deleting "Arabophobic sentence"

What relevance does the opinions of a European traveller from 2 centuries ago have in describing the social attitudes of Somalis today or even then, as he was recounting this experience his years later while he also was traveling through numerous other nations at the same time which could result in him overemphasizeing certain positions he encountered.

Regardless of whether his opinion was accurate for the early 1800s, it still is irrelevant unless this page was about social attitudes during the time, and nowhere else in this page list social attitudes about the other speakers of the languages listed. 92.236.211.53 (talk) 00:22, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will be removing the Arabophobia section again, as I attempted to reach out and get Skiitash (editor who has saved this section twice now) to discuss it's merits in this talk page. The request was deleted and I'm assuming accused of being a a sockpuppet, so I will not try again and if anyone has an issue with this, PLEASE discuss. 92.236.211.53 (talk) 01:07, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
