"He is a defender of legal positivism who thinks that there are necessary connections between law and morality." Well, we have a problem then because this self-same encyclopedia defines Positivism as the view that there are no necessary connections between law and morality. Either a) the legal positivism article is incorrect, b) the Leslie Green article is incorrect or c) Leslie Green is both a positivist and a non-positivist. From what little I know of his work I'd plump for (b) but on the whole I'd prefer someone more familiar with the subject to make the change. 128.232.243.176 (talk) 07:45, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about his class, but Green is pretty well known for being a positivist who says that there are necessary connections between law and morality. (He is not the only one however, Raz says something similar.) Green makes the point in the article linked at the end of entry, and in the article linked on his homepage. Looking at this obit, and the web-pages setting out the academic background of the Leslie Green covered by this article, I think it's clear that the Leslie Green in the G&M obit is a different Leslie Green, who taught at the University of Alberta rather than at the eastern Canadian schools and Oxford. As well, the date of birth in this article is probably based on the Alberta Leslie Green, not this Leslie Green, who looks much younger than 98 in his web-pages.
