Merge with
Al-`Ula
 ?

No, I don't think merging is a good idea. It would be somewhat like merging the city of Rome with the Roman Empire. Al-`Ula is the town that probably emerged in the 13th century on or better near the ruins of the old capital of Dedan and Lihyan. Lihyan itself is possibly more the name of a dynasty and Kingdom, while Dedan, or "DDN", seems to be the name of the place now called Al-Khuraiba (if theses ruins that have escaped destruction where the center of the settlement) which can be considered within the extant of the modern town of Al-Ula. While the "Lihyanite" cultur, language/script and kingdom seem to have evolved without much of a break out of the "dedanite" cultur, language/script and "political entity" (an elective city-state kingdom at some time?) there seems to be quite a large break until the middle ages. I hope I made this clear in the Al-Ula article. I admit there is much confusion among the articles for

Mada'in Saleh and as far as I am concerned there is to much Bible info in the Dedan article as there is to much Koran info in the Mada'in Saleh article. Although I would rather isolate it within the articles into chapters of their own and add more information from nonreligious sources that is if any is to be found. I do have plans to add more to the related articles correcting them along the way but I'm slow and in great need of reliable sources worth citing. --T.woelk (talk) 11:47, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply
